Our True Nature
(The continuation of the article Mistaken Identity)
Written by: Wes Plaisance

What would be your reaction if I said it is natural for you to walk righteously? Many people that I mention this to find it hard to believe. I was studying Romans 6 for a bible study I was leading when I realized this truth. I mentioned Romans 6:6 in my last article how our old self (sinner, sin nature, life in Adam) the source of our sinful life was crucified with Christ and the result is that we are no longer slaves to sin. If the old self that sinned naturally died with Christ and we have been given a new self that has been united to and raised up with Him, what is the nature of your new self? Could we say that our new nature is the nature of Christ Himself? I dare to say we could. Verse 8 reads "now if we have died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with Him" Those who live with Christ live righteously, because He is righteous and our life is now from Him. Now I know that this is a hard concept for many of us to grasp, because we all experience sin at times in our daily lives. But I believe that this is the very core of our identity in Christ, the reality of who we really are. Only by faith can we experience the grace of our birthright in Christ. To be continued… If my sin nature is dead and I have the nature of Christ why do I still experience sin in my life...

"For by these He has granted to us His precious and magnificent
promises, so that by them you may become partakers of the divine
nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world by lust."
2 Peter 1:4
