This is the second name derived from this verse. I’ve read the passage several times and I’m not convinced at this time that they actually apply to Christ. If I have further thoughts at some point I’ll put them below. Per my original intent and commitment I’m posting today’s Advent name.
Song of Solomon 2:1
“I am the rose of Sharon,
The lily of the valleys.”
When I saw today’s verse from Isaiah I immediately thought of the Christian’s transformation from darkness to light. For those of us who have trusted in Christ as our Savior, we were rescued from the spiritually devoid life that we inherited from Adam and adopted by God through the work of Christ on the cross.
In short, we were spiritually taken out of Adam and placed into Christ who is Life eternal! Thank You Jesus, our Eternal Father indeed!!
Isaiah 9:6 For a child will be born to us, a son will be given to us;
And the government will [i]rest on His shoulders;
And His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Eternal Father, Prince of Peace.
I remember the weight of sin. The weight of always missing the mark with God, myself, and others. The weight of attempting to navigate through a broken world in utter darkness. The weight of the inability to ever be enough. The weight of an uncertainty of life after physical death.
Praise be to Jesus, the Lamb of God, who took away my sin that I may reign in Life!
John 1:29 The next day he saw Jesus coming to him and said, “behold, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!
I use the NASB95 translation, which describes this as “indescribable gift” instead of “unspeakable gift.” The description ‘indescribable’ really speaks to my soul.
A couple of years after I received the Lord as my Savior, I was reflecting on how drastic He had changed me. He loved me enough to point out my flesh, so that I might know Him as my full sufficiency in all things. As I conversed with Father about our journey together, I was taken aback by just how incredible life is with Him. I could not imagine it being any better.
It was in this moment that The Lord shared His excitement about getting to unveil His Life to me for all of eternity. I was beyond overwhelmed by the thought of spending eternity, experiencing more and more of the Lord, after all His love and life are inexhaustible!
Jesus really is indescribable and the greatest gift ever known to man!

In a world where we increasing receive opposing declarations of truth from top scholars on everything from politics, psychology, health, history, science, and even theology, it’s so comforting to know that Jesus is the Word.
John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
Revelation 19:13 He is clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God.
In full disclosure I admit this name cannot bear its full meaning in my head, nor my heart, because I’m not quite sure the fullness of what it means. Where are my Jewish friends when I need them? May the Lord, who leads me into all truth, bring revelation of its meaning. What I can tell you from this verse is that the promised Messiah would come from the Tribe of Judah.
Genesis 49:10

Mark 8:29 “And he continued by questioning them, “But who do you say that I am?” Peter answered and said to Him, “You are the Christ.”
We were not created first only to have Jesus be born in the flesh as a response to humanities utter failure in fully depending upon God alone. No, God, foreknowing our need even before we were created supplied for our need in the person of Jesus Christ.
That’s really amazing when considering today’s attitude. We live in a time where culture many times desires to dispose of life without any foreknowledge of what will become of it, good or bad. Yet, Jesus, knowing that man would reject Him, created a means of reconcilliation with God to an otherwise hopeless and helpless humanity in advance. Then He created us! His love is overwhelming!!
