The study of Romans with Wes and Christy has been transformative in my Christian walk. The methodical word by word study of the book allowed each member of the group to voice questions and share interpretations of the word. The process felt organic and never rushed or forced in any way. All pretense fell away during our studies and I could sense that we were collectively searching for real understanding. This method allowed me to grasp many freeing Christian principles for the first time. Wes and Christy posses a deep understanding of biblical events and their meaning. They are some of the most spirit filled individuals I have ever met and I consider myself blessed to be able to have studied with them. ~JJ
I remember walking into our first bible study with Wes and at first glance, he didn’t look like an everyday minister. He looked like an ordinary guy wearing ordinary clothes and then he prayed the opening prayer and I knew something was different about him. You can tell the Holy Spirit is strong in him. We dived right into the book of Romans and didn’t look back. Wes has unveiled some truths that I was never taught in Sunday school or in church. Truths that I will use to help anyone who is willing to be helped find Christ and be saved. Wes also has a way of delivering “shock” preaching, lol. He takes what we’ve learned and shows us biblically, how we are either right or wrong, with zero gray areas. And just when I thought our bible study couldn’t get any better, Wes brings in his wife Christy. I love watching these two go back and forth on topics and they read off of each other without ever saying a word. Their co-relationship with the lord is something that I want for my wife and I to achieve. They truly are a dynamic duo! If you have ever wanted a Holy Spirit derived look at Jesus, a Holy Spirit derived look at the bible, a Holy Spirit derived look at how you perceive your spirituality, take a course with Wes and Christy, you won’t be disappointed but, you may be shocked! Above all the things I have said and from what I have seen, Wes and Christy both want each and every person to lay their faith and trust in Jesus Christ and they will guide you along the way using the God breathed words found in your Holy Bible. What I love about these two is that they are genuine. There is nothing false about them, nothing that raises a flag, and nothing that the still small voice inside my heart says to look out for. These guys are awesome and your group would be lucky to have them as leaders!! ~JP
I love you all with my whole heart! My life & my walk is so much more richer because you are in it. Thank you for standing with me over the years! Though we live miles apart you have affected my life as if you live right in my own home. ~DL
I really loved you and Christy’s leadership and studying with all of you. S and I had been looking for quite some time to find a couples Bible Study and was so happy when J and A invited us to come. I have learned and grown so much with the “works mentality” and understanding I am “Saint” and “my life is not my own.” I am a better sister in Christ having studied with you all. Thank you Wes and Christy so much for your heart for ministry and being God’s servant. ~KC
I am thankful for Christy and Wes Plaisance. For teaching me to see, understand, and live out my identity in Christ. For helping me to understand how to rest in Him, and to see that if I am burdened with following Him, then it is because of burdens I place on the yoke, not because of Him. Thank you Plaisances for going out of your way to put our family on a new journey. It has been life saving and has put new joy in everything! ~AW
Wes, I wanted to send you a bit “thank you” as we hit middle of the week. Your message this Sunday was awesome. Your messages always seem extremely genuine and from the heart, and I always feel the Holy Spirit is alive and working through you to the class.
The one phrase you said has resounded in me this entire week… [paraphrased] … “We must ensure we are working FROM God, not only FOR God.”
Many times I get caught up in Colossians 3:23 “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working from the Lord, not for human masters” However, you really helped me examine the missing piece of ensure you are starting in the right place… FROM God… not only FOR God… how important!! ~SW
Coming out of 20+ years identifying myself as a gay man, the truth about my identity in Christ was huge. Learning that my behavior does not determine my identity has been the most important revelation in my life. With Christ a my life, I can now live in fullness, instead of just “getting by”. Seeing Christ living His life through Wes and Christy is the greatest testimony to His perfect love for us. Thanks for all you guys do. it is truly life changing. ~C
Wes & Christy, Not sure where to start – there’s so much I could write here. I’m grateful to Father for ministering to me through you the way He has over the last couple of years – it seems like it’s been a lot longer with all that we have experienced together. More than anything else it’s been the opportunity to do life together with you and learn from you what it looks like to look to the Father for everything that has ministered to me. It is through that experience that I’ve come to know and trust Christ as my life. I am increasingly finding myself resting in my identity and trusting God in ways that I never would have imagined possible. I’m thankful for the opportunities that we’ve had lately to exercise our faith and pray for continued abiding as we continue to walk in that truth which opened the door for Father to minister His love and grace through you to me and countless other people who are touched by your lives. I look forward with hope to the day when we’ll all worship together free from distraction at His throne. ~TT
Wes, your class has really meant a lot to me in understanding God’s Grace and our Christian religion. It is really helping me to change my life while I face some really tough personnel problems. Thank you very much for your ministry. ~JB
The effect that Wes’s teaching has had on my life and my relationship with the Lord has been nothing short of transformational. Now I am able to live fully and freely in Christ. Without this ministry, I don’t know that I would have ever gotten it. ~AB
Wes and Christy, The Lord has been gracious to show Himself to me in unique and evident ways through you and your family. It has been a gift to spend time with you and hear your hearts.
Wes, thank you for all of the “radical” Scripture teaching. I hear myself speaking about the New Covenant to students I work with, other friends, family, etc. I am experiencing more freedom now than I ever have been because of the truth I’ve heard from y’all and, by His grace, received (and increasingly so). I am grateful to the Lord for allowing me to spend this time with you and for your openness of heart to show me and other believers the reality of the riches we HAVE in Christ.
Christy, I’m grateful for your tears in the times we’ve gotten to share our hearts with one another. The words that came through your tears extra-stand-out in my mind because they touched me deeply-because I sensed they were coming from a deep place of sincere knowing in your heart. For example, the time at K’s Lake House that you told all of us women that you thought we were “so beautiful-everyone of us” it struck me as being from the Lord through you. I also remember the beautiful way you described marriage: “It’s not a trap! It’s wonderful! Somebody’s got your back all the time.” ~M
I want to thank you for ministering to both P and me. I appreciate your words spoken from the Spirit, and your boldness to speak truthfully, addressing those deep issues that aren’t always easy to talk about. I would much rather hear the truth than a chocolate-coated puff of air meaningless words that sedate the unaware. ~JU
I appreciate the way you spoke from experience – everything you said was real! You are both trying to walk what you’re talking – by faith in God. Thanks for being real and offering us yourselves this weekend! ~Participant in Romans 5-8 Conference
All in All I have learned more this weekend than in a long time. I think the way you have done this message is awesome. Keep on. Thanks. ~Participant in Romans 5-8 Conference
Really insightful teachings on living in Christ. Very refreshing on not living by law. ~Participant in Romans 5-8 Conference
Wes and Christy, I just wanted to say thank you so much for opening your home on Thurs. nights. I have absolutely loved diving into the word and learning. Wes, the last two life group meetings have been so amazing. God is really speaking through you. Between you, Pete’s sermons, and the book I am reading (The Normal Christian Life by Watchman Nee) I am really starting to grasp this whole identity thing. Gosh, to think I have missed the boat for 20 years! I wonder how many Christians are just like me and they don’t understand what their identity in Christ looks like. Thanks for being obedient and leading this group. God is speaking right to my heart. ~WS
I read this last night and immediately thought of what you’ve been saying,
“I would like to address this chapter to those of you who may not be able to read. Because you cannot read, you may feel that you are in weaker state than most Christians. You may feel you are qualified to know the depths of your Lord. But in fact, you are really blessed. The blessing is not being able to read is that prayer may become your reading! Do you not know that the greatest book is Jesus Christ Himself? He is a Book who has been written on within and without. He will teach you all things. Read Him!”
I don’t know Christy, when I read this it just made a lot of sense and put into words what you have been saying. Thank you for preparing my way to hear and understand these words. ~KM
Wes & Christy, I just wanted you to know I’m so excited about all God is doing through you guys! I’m always so excited when I read your newsletters. God has gifted each of you in such a unique way, and I know he has unique plans for you both. Your boldness and faithfulness is a witness to me and I know many others as well. ~TM
Hey Christy, I just wanted to tell you thank you for sending that site to me. I really want to feel the way you do about salvation. I cried all day today. God takes so much out of me. I am glad he sent me the gift of your friendship. I really need a friend like you. I don’t have to compete with you and you accept me as I am. Thank you for being so much like Jesus. I really mean that. ~LM
Wes, Thanks for allowing the Lord to use you in giving your testimony. It was great and just seeing the kids faces was proof that Jesus was glorified! I have truly been blessed with your friendship and desire to co-labor in this ministry. ~TC
Wes, How I appreciate U! a few of us “walk in purpose”… Some of us receive the grace to soar – my how your heart soars! ~JO
